Physiatry Inpatient Care

The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System is recruiting for 3 full-time ! Physiatrists to join the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System (VASNHS) PMR (Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) Inpatient Service. Board Eligible/ Board Certified Physiatrist are asked to apply. The incumbent will be joining an interdisciplinary rehabilitation team comprised of Physiatrists, Physician Assistant, Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists to provide world class Inpatient Rehabilitation Services to our Nations' Veterans. Inpatient services will be provided at New VASNHS Medical Center in North Las Vegas. Please check out the link http://www.lasvegas.va.gov/ to see the new facilities Incumbent will provide service within the PMRS Comprehensive Integrated Inpatient Rehabilitation Program (CIIRP) or within the PMR Inpatient Consult Service. In the CIIRP the incumbent will provide an interdisciplinary rehabilitation program in which patient, family, and staff are involved in an effort to reach the highest leve! l of function possible. Incumbent is responsible for determining the ap! propriateness of admissions, directing inpatient rehabilitation, coordinating outpatient care and placement for CIIRP admitted patients. Functional limitations in mobility, communication, self-care, bowel and bladder management and cognitive, social and emotional functioning will be addressed. The interdisciplinary team conducts assessments, provides treatment, and makes discharge recommendations based upon the individual patient's needs. Incumbent will coordinate care by working closely with the patients, their families and all rehabilitation team members which include: nurses, core clinical therapists, psychologists, social workers, and Physicians from other services. On the PMR consult service incumbent will provide evaluation, diagnosis, and consultation for non-surgical therapeutic treatments for inpatients with functional deficits due to neuromuscular, neurologic, cardiovascular, or musculoskeletal disorders. Incumbent will plan and implement interdisciplinary PMRS th! erapy treatments. Provide recommendations regarding the most appropriate level of rehabilitative care for patients cared for within the VASNHS, other VA medical centers, and from the community. Work closely with CIIRP Staff Physiatrists, PMRS Consult Service clinical therapists, social workers, nursing, and Physicians from other services to provide a coordinated interdisciplinary approach to improve functional abilities and assist in discharge planning of Veterans to the most appropriate setting.

Physicians, including residents, appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).

GRADE REQUIREMENTS: N/A

You must be a U.S. citizen to qualify for this position.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure.

You will need to successfully comp! lete a background security investigation before you can be appointed in! to this position.

Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. (1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbi! a as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.
