The Certified Surgical Technologist functions under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and perform! s delegated functions. Assumes responsibility to assist the surgeon by preparing and handling instruments, supplies, and equipment to maintain an aseptic environment through specific techniques and practices. He/she adheres to policy and procedures, observes Universal Precautions and is responsible for meeting the Standards of Care. Patient age may be from neonate to geriatric. Completes a competency skills checklist within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
Education
:
Graduate from high school or equivalent program.
Graduate of an accredited school of surgical technology.
Current Basic Cardiac Life Support.
License:
Current certification by the Liaison Council of Certification of the Association of Surgical Technologist required. Current certification through NCCT upon hire/transfer is acceptable; however, new hire/transfer employee must convert to certification by the Liaison Council of Certific! ation of the Association of Surgical Technologist within 90 da! ys of hire/transfer at the employee's own expense.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year in a health care setting. GI lab experience preferred.
