KEY REQUIREMENTS

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required.
Must pass pre-employment examination.

Must be proficient in written and spoken English DUTIES:
The VA Medical Center (VAMC) in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a board certified Physician to serve as the Chief for the Compensation and Pension Service. The successful candidate must have a commitment to team build! ing and the overall aptitude for leadership with experience in managing! medical providers and completing Compensation and Pension examinations. The candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to implement and modify processes in order to provide efficient delivery of service. The incumbent in this position may also be responsible for clinical duties in the Compensation and Pension setting. The duties include (but are not limited to):

  • Completing examinations and opinions to provide very specific information in order to ensure a proper evaluation of the claimed disability rather than to provide medical treatment.
  • Ensure that Compensation and Pension exams are completed by the appropriate staff, ensure that VA Directives are met and will participate in Committees, Peer Reviews, and task groups at the local and national level.
  • As the Compensation and Pension Service grows, the responsibilities may change to meet new requirements set by directives from the government authority.
  • !
  • The candidate must be willing to be placed, detailed or temporarily assigned to other related services and/or locations, if necessary.
  • The candidate practices, promotes and implements current facility safety policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:BASIC REQUIREM ENTS:
U.S. citizenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.

D egree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.

Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
