Aaron's Presents is a rapidly growing 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives kids in 8th grade and below a unique opportunity to bring an idea of their own to life in a way that positively impacts others. The program is child-initiated, child-led, non-competitive and accessible to any child regardless of resources or availability of adult support. We provide all of the mentoring, materials/services and logistical help needed. In the process, children experience firsthand the sense of purpose that comes from tapping into exactly who they are at any age and stage and reaching out to help others with empathy, generosity and passion.

This past year, we worked with 510 kids ages 9-14 on 388 projects that benefited over 5,000 people in the greater Lowell and Lawrence areas.

Purpose: to work directly with youth participants to mentor them through planning, refining and carrying out their ideas from start to finish, while exemplifying and reinforcing our organization's mission and desired outcomes.

Duties & Responsibilities:
--Develop and maintain positive, productive and professional relationships with schools, after-school programs, community organizations and families to meet and work with participants on their projects;
--Communicate regularly with Executive Director and Program Director;
--Acquire necessary materials and supplies and track expenditures;
--Research and connect with community partners;
--Create a fun, engaging environment that keeps the participants excited and follows their vision as the leaders, while serving as a positive role model and mento
--Follow child safety protocols and laws and ensure the safety and well-being of participants, and communicate effectively with their parents/guardians;
--Maintain strict confidentiality of all personal records and information of participants and families.

Required Skills and Qualifications*:
--21+ years of age;
--Valid driver's license;
--Clean driving record for 1+ years;
--High school diploma or GED; bachelor's degree or progress toward degree a plus;
--2 references (at least one from an employer; not from relatives or friends)
--Background/CORI/SORI checks;
--Strong written and oral communication skills;
--1+ year of experience working with children in 8th grade and below and/or 1+ year of experience working with people and children of diverse backgrounds and at-risk children (can include parenting!);
--Passionate about youth development and empowerment;
--Active and engaged member of the greater Lawrence and/or Lowell communities; currently live or have lived in either community;
--Reliable, honest and trustworthy; possess high ethical standards;
--Flexible and patient; can accept imperfection, delays and last-minute changes;

Other Preferred Qualifications:
--Able to follow a child's vision and define success from his/her perspective, and not change it to fit adult standards or your idea of what would work best;
--Self-driven and self-starter; comfortable working independently; able to juggle multiple projects at once; excellent listener and collaborator;
--Possesses a sense of humor and appreciates sarcasm; friendly, enthusiastic and positive; treats every child and adult with respect and generosity.

Time and Place:
--5-20 hours/week, depending on availability and ;
--Flexible schedule with availability once a week during school lunch hour (meeting with kids at school) AND/OR on weekends or afterschool hours (for executing projects; can be scheduled around personal commitments.
--Training and shadowing would start upon hiring and continue until ready.
