Summary

Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of skin. Manages dermatological services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to the

following:
Examines, diagnoses, and treats diseases of the skin.

Prepares and reviews case histories and clinical records.

Examines patients, performs biopsies, and other diagnostic techniques of dermatology, and determines requirements for clinical laboratory tests.

Interprets test results and evaluates examination findings.

Prescribes treatment, including x-ray therapy, physical therapy, and medication.

Advises on types and quantity of dermatological supplies and equipment.

Instructs interns and residents in methods and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of dermatological diseases.

Serves as consultant on dermatology.

In addition to instructing interns and residents you will also be instructing physician assistants in methods and procedures for diagnosis and treatment of dermatological diseases.

Supervision

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience

For entry into this specialty, a doctor of medicine degree or a doctor of osteopathy degree from an approved school of medicine or osteopathy is mandatory.

Completion of a residency or fellowship in dermatology acceptable to the Surgeon General, HQ USAF, is mandatory.

Certificates,

Licenses, Registrations, Clearance:
Current board certification by the American Board of Dermatology (ABD) or American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology (AOBD).

A current unrestricted license from any one of the 50 U.S. States, the District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam or the U.S. Virgin Islands is acceptable.

Current BLS from American Heart Association.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
