DUTIES:
VA Sierra Nevada Health Care System (VASNHCS) is recruiting for an experienced board certified/board eligible Radiologist.

Primary duties include providing diagnostic imaging as well as backup interventional radiology. This would include interpretation of imaging examinations including plain film exams, CT scans, ultrasound images, magnetic resonance scans, nuclear medicine scans. Candidate must be capable of performing/interpreting routine fluoro examinations, IVPs, CT scans, ultrasound scans, and nuclear medicine examinations. Secondary duties also include various interventional radiology procedures such as CT or Ultrasound guided biopsies, abscess drainages, various vascular procedures and other interventional procedures.

Additional duties include providing primary, secondary, and tertiary care in both hospitalized and outpatient settings, identifying patients' health problems, and designing diagnostic and therapeutic plans to meet these needs. Incumbent is responsible for coordinating activities with other health service personnel, resolving problems affecting patient care, and providing appropriate education for the patient and/or family members regarding the patient's care, patient's illness and/or management of care. The Radiologist staff physician has responsibilities for teaching house staff, medical students, and other health professionals during ward rounds, clinics, and in conferences, and provides supervisory control/professional direction for specialized diagnostic units in their field of expertise, e.g., cardiac evaluation, pulmonary function, dialysis, etc.

Incumbent participates effectively in team meetings and treatment planning conferences, collaborates with multidisciplinary team members in a manner that enhances coordination of comprehensive patient care, and ensures that the practice of medicine is consistent with Joint Commission, CARF, VA policies and procedures, clinical practice guidelines, VISN standards, national statutes and regulations, medical record documentation, mandatory continuing education, and HIPAA policies.

Salary: To be determined by a Physician Pay Panel, consisting of your peers, based on your education and experience

Appointment Information: The candidate selected for this position may be appointed to a temporary appointment, not to exceed one year and one day, pending completion of boarding process

Work Schedule: Full-Time - IncumbentÂ's schedule will include week days and weekend days

Relocation/Recruitment incentive has not been approved for this position

Relocation expenses will not be reimbursed

This position is covered by the bargaining unit

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship: Citizen of the United States

Licensure and Registration: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. You must be licensed as MD or DO for this position. In some cases, these may be substituted for experience and education.

English Language Proficiency: Must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d)

Physical Standards: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use.

You will need to successfully complete a background security investigation before you can be appointed into this position.

Education: Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was awarded.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was awarded.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
