The OR Manager is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of nursing personal in patient-care areas according to policies, procedures, philos! ophy, and objectives of the facility. Participates in planning work of assigned areas and coordinates activities with other patient-care areas. Ensures that patient needs are met and evaluates area nursing care and performance. Works closely with Director of Nursing and Administrator in coordinating patient-care service functions. May assume responsibilities for Director of Nursing in her/his absence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Philosophy
a) Supports the facility's ideology, mission, goal, and objectives
b) Performs in accordance with the facility's policies and procedures
c) Follows the facility's standards for ethical business conduct
d) Conducts self as a positive role model and team member
e) Recognizes patients' rights and responsibilities and supports them in performance of job duties

2. General
a) Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services, and activities
b) Contributes input into short and! l ong -term goals for the facility
c) Maintains facility a! nd equipment to ensure cleanliness, sterility, and operational ability at all times; reports deficiencies to clinical director
d) Reports discrepancies in services provided by contracted providers (e.g. pathology, radiology, housekeeping) to Director of Nursing

3. Communication
a ) Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers
b) Interacts with others in a positive, respectful, and considerate manner
c ) Promotes effective communication between the clinical areas and the business office and physicians

4. Financial Practices
a ) Promotes cost containment and efficient use of facility resources
b) Makes recommendations to Director of Nursing for potential cost-effective improvements
c) Assists in monitoring FTE utilization and makes recommendations to promote cost-effective man-hour practices
d) Assists in developing cost analyses to promote cost-effective practices

5. ! Compliance Program
a) Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s adopted compliance program
b) Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures

6. Performance Improvement Program
a) Assists in the implementation and maintenance of the organization’s adopted performance-improvement program, policies, and procedures
b) Performs according to established compliance policies and procedures
c) Serves on the performance-improvement committee
d) Assists Director of Nursing in evaluation suggestions, grievances, and processes to identify opportunities to improve performance and quality of care
e) Assists in monitoring patient-care programs and reviews procedures and outcome standards and criteria

7. Safety/Risk Management Program
a) Adheres to safety policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities
b) Implements practices and regulations adopted to provide safe! ty in the healthcare environment
c) Monitors the facility’s physi! cal environment and initiates methods for maintaining safety, comfort, cleanliness, and orderliness; reports physical environment status to Director of Nursing
d) Responds to emergency situations competently
e) Ensures that OSHA requirements are met by clinical staff and that supplies are readily available

8. Professional Competence
a) Participates in continuing education and other learning experiences
b) Shares knowledge gained in continuing education with staff
c) Maintains membership in relevant professional organizations
d) Seeks new learning experiences by accepting challenging opportunities and responsibilities
e) Welcomes suggestions and recommendations
f) Makes suggestions to Director of Nursing for continuing education of clinical staff members
g) Assists with orientation programs for new employees in clinical areas

9. Patient Care
a) Applies accepted clinical nursing principles and practices to patient care! activities in the facility
b) Coordinates patient care activities with surgeons and anesthesia providers to provide continuity of patient care
c) Assists Director of Nursing in identifying and solving nursing care problems
d) Assists Director of Nursing to oversee all nursing activities during an emergency to verify that patient needs are met
e) Participates in primary care of patients as needed and oversees clinical areas to verify that patient needs are met
f) Assists Director of Nursing to enforce the implementation of nursing practice standards and licensing and accreditation rules/regulations to provide quality patient care
g) Recommends to Director of Nursing any revision in patient care policies and procedures as necessary to conform to accepted principles and practices
h) Respects patients’ right to privacy, dignity, and confidentiality
i ) Supervises care of the perioperative area and the equipment to ensure cleanliness, sterility! , and operational ability at all times
j) Controls staff/patient tr! affic to help prevent infections

10. Daily Operations
a) Coordinates and monitors operational activities for effective and efficient management of daily operations; reports deficiencies to Director of Nursing
b) Assists Director of Nursing to prepare daily personnel assignments and delegates duties according to experience and skill level to provide quality patient care
c) Assists in cross-training clinical staff to create a productive work environment for all clinical areas
d ) Coordinates scheduling of procedures with scheduling personnel
e) Assists the Director of Nursing in evaluating the performance of all clinical personnel and for assessing and continuously improving the quality of care and services
f) Observes performance of all clinical staff members and provides feedback to Director of Nursing
g) Ensures that staff implement established facility policies and procedures
h) Participates in designated committees
i ) Analyze! s clinical documentation to ensure facility’s policies/procedures are followed
j ) Serves as a liaison among patients, families, nursing, and medical staff to coordinate quality patient care
k) Promotes harmonious relations and favorable attitudes among the healthcare team

11. Materials Management
a) Applies material management principles to establish procedures for use
b) Promotes cost-effectiveness and implements procedures to control waste
c) Monitors the care and cleaning of equipment to maintain proper working condition
d) Assists Director of Nursing and Materials Manager to identify and evaluate need for items relative to trends and physician requests
e) Reviews inventory for availability of supplies and equipment necessary to meet patient needs
f) Assist Materials Manager in overseeing inventory, maintaining adequate supplies and equipment and providing for their economical use

REQUIREMENTS
1. High school diplom! a or GED certification
2. Graduate of accredited school of nursing !
3. RN with active license in the State of Nevada
4. Current CPR and ACLS certification
5. 1 year of OR Manager experience
6. Evidence of leadership qualities
7. Strong ethical and moral character references
8. Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal, and telephone communication in American English
9. Computer proficient

Preferred
1. 1 year of ASC OR Manager experience
