PRIMARY RESPONSIBILTIES
The primary responsibilities include performing high-volume spay/neuter surgeries for shelter and public animals, performing additional surgeries as needed on shelter animals (e.g. nucleation, exploratories, orthopedics, tumor removal with biopsy, dentals, amputations), and monitoring the health of and treating animals in the shelter. These responsibilities are performed in coordination with a clinic staff, including three other veterinarians.
BACKGROUND
In February, 2006, Nevada Humane Society (NHS) moved into a new state-of-the-art facility which it shares with Washoe County Regional Animal Services. Today, NHS is an open-admission, no-kill shelter that plays a critical role in sustaining a 94% communitywide save rate for homeless dogs and cats. The shelter has become a model shelter and one of the safest communities in the country for homeless pets.

COMMUNITY
NHS is located in Reno, Nevada, “The Biggest Little City! in the World. ” A world class tourist destination with a ri! ch arts scene and year-round outdoor activities, Reno has something for everyone inside its 85 square miles (and a mere 45 minutes away from Lake Tahoe and some of the country's best ski resorts.) There are plenty of outdoor recreation opportunities including golfing, hiking, biking, and boating, as well as casinos and other entertainment.
