Title: Patient Surgical Guide
Hours: Part-time
Location: 555 N. Arlington Ave. Reno, NV 89503
Additional: Competitive hourly wage and benefits
Position Summary
Under the direction of the Clinical staff, the Surgical Guide is responsible for assisting nursing staff with basic care and assisting patients and their families through the surgical process.
Essential Functions
Serve as a personal contact, provide support and help to alleviate stress for families of surgical patients during the perioperative period.
Assist RN in gathering medical history information and vital signs; document in the patient’s electronic medical record.
Consistently track the patient surgical journey, docume nt patients status in the electronic medical record; alert patient’s family of the status of the patient.
Observe patient’s condition and immediately communicate changes or concerns to RN or nurse manager.
Follow emergency procedures including use of CPR if necessary.
Assist in stocking department equipment and supplies.
Assist clinical staff where necessary.
Escort patients out of the building following discharge.
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned in an efficient, effective and cost conscious manner, complying with all ROSC’s policies, procedures and regulations.

Note: This pos ition provides direct patient care.
Education, Knowledge, Skills
High School Diploma or GED.
Certified Nurse Assistant or Emergency Medical Technician certification required.
Great written and verbal communication skills.
Must be a people person with focus on high levels of customer service.
Excellent organizational abilities with the ability to accomplish a wide variety of tasks independently and collaboratively.
Demonstrate competency and compliance with policies and procedures concerning infection control, safety, and HIPAA.
Experience
Previous experience in surgery or health related field preferred.
Experience in people-oriented work or activities with a dedication to providing the best possible experience for patients and families.
Work Environment
This position operates in a clinical environ ment. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, toxic substances, and similar conditions is possible. The noise level is usually moderate.
