Job Summary


The Student Services Analyst performs at a fully-proficient, professional level in the Financial Aid Department. This position is required to perform independent evaluation and analysis of all aspects related to financial aid, including determining award amounts and making awards in various programs. The Student Services Analyst will manage the federal work study as well as be responsible for reconciliation of federal work study. This position responds to and solves complex problems. This position leads project teams and/or regular staff on an ongoing basis and may supervise exempt and non-exempt regular staff. This position may assign and monitor the work of others. This position includes reviewing program requirements, evaluating criteria used to make eligibility decisions, researching program activities and recommending enhancements, developing programs and/or special events, serving as a program or community liaison, monitoring regulations and funding.

Essential Functions


45% - Implements, manages, awards and evaluates federal work study programs as well as state, college, and federal programs in compliance with all relevant regulations; provides oversight and supervision of MCC’s federal work study programs by auditing and reconciling all federal work study accounts to ensure that accounts are being properly administered, and ensures that awarded federal work study awards fall within established guidelines; serves as a liaison to the MCC Human Resources Office, MCC Fiscal, MCC Career Service Office, FWS Supervisors, and MCCCD Student Financial Services, by maintaining an accurate record of federal work study earnings and meeting the federal requirements for community service regulations; works with college Fiscal staff and Student Financial Service staff concerning student awards and federal work study balances; serves as liaison for the institution in regards to federal work study issues and questions; serves as a subject matter expert for federal work study programs and administrative responsibilities; monitors fund balances, disbursements, adjustments and year-end procedures.

25% - Responds to inquiries and requests from students, parents, donors and staff in person, in writing or by telephone regarding federal work study eligibility and awards; advises students and parents on questions related to Title IV financial aid eligibility (including financial aid methodology, disbursement of aid, cost of attendance, expected family contribution and aid eligibility requirements); monitors continued eligibility, analyzes and determines student satisfactory academic progress (SAP); develops, coordinates and facilitates the logistics of financial aid and federal work study trainings, meetings, programs/special events and workshops for current and prospective students on campus and in the community.

15% Continue to work with other specialized departments: Human Resources, Center for Civic Engagement, FWS supervisors, and Career services to train, assist in hosting job fairs, notifying FWS supervisors if students are not eligible to work anymore.

15% Assist financial aid in awarding, reports, working the front counter and/or virtual front counter, and Tech on Duty assignments as needed.

Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and two years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

Associate’s Degree from a regionally accredited institution and four years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

OR

High School Diploma/GED and six years of student services or college teaching experience, or experience coordinating, administering, planning, or evaluating programs.

Desired Qualifications


A. Two (2) or more years experience in coordinating, administering, planning, and reconciling federal Title IV aid, or related programs.

B. Two (2) years of experience with Federal Title IV financial aid programs, awarding, eligibility requirements, disbursements, and supporting regulations.

C. Experience with federal, state, and/or institutional rules, regulations, guidelines, and procedures for grants and scholarships.

D. Experience in planning, organizing, and coordinating activities and workshops.

E. Two (2) or more years’ experience utilizing internal/external databases necessary for awarding student financial aid such as PeopleSoft (SIS), National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), Common Origination and Disbursement (COD) and Central Processing System (CPS).

F. Experience using a computer or web-based technology in the delivery of programs and services (i.e. PeopleSoft, Financial Management Systems, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Academic Works).
