Desert Springs Hospital Medical Center, a
293-bed acute care facility located in southeast Las Vegas, has been
providing high quality healthcare to residents of Southern Nevada
since 1971. The Desert Springs Hospital campus covers more than
451,000 square feet. The hospital provides 24-hour emergency
services, and has a designated area in the emergency department to
treat p! atients with less serious injuries and illnesses. The hospital!
has long been referred to as "The Heart Hospital" by
long-time residents, due to its solid reputation as a leader in
cardiac care. The hospital is nationally recognized for its diabetes,
cardiac, stroke and bariatric surgery programs. We
are currently recruiting for a Chief Nursing Officer
(CNO).

Position

Summary:
T he CNO is a member of the Hospital
Executive Team and is responsible for integration, coordination and
direction of nursing and patient care within the overall operation of
the hospital. He/she directs nursing and patient care to ensure
the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective health care
consistent with the mission, vision and values of Universal Health
Services and in accordance with government regulations, licensing and
accreditation requirements. The CNO participates in the
hospital’s strategic planning and contributes to the
achievement of institutional goals ! and objectives. The CNO
promotes a culture of Service Excellence with all customer
groups.

Requirements

Position

Requirements:

  • Certification in a specialty of choice
desirable.

  • Current license or permit to practice
professional nursing in the state of employment.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of nursing
clinical practices and management.
  • Extensive knowledge of principles and
practices relevant to nursing and
patient care activities.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of effective
management and supervisory practices.
  • Highly developed written and verbal
communication skills.
  • Interpersonal skills for working closely
with others on a team.
  • Ability to plan, direct. control and
monitor others’ activities.

  • Demonstrates leadersh! ip abilities that
contribute to a positive work environment.!

  • Promotes mutual respect and professionalism
in working relationships.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with common
computer based applications such as e-mail, Windows-based
programs and various databases.
  • Five or more years of nursing management or
supervisor experience in a clinical acute care
setting. Experience to include fiscal/budget
management
responsibilities.
  • Occasional US travel to conferences and UHS
management meetings.
