Move to scenic and exciting northern Nevada! Located on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada mountain range, Reno is minutes away from beautiful Lake Tahoe. Residents of northern Nevada enjoy all four seasons with an average 260 days of sunshine per year - the arid desert climate is temperate in the fall and spring, hot in the summer and cold/snowy in the winter. Outdoor adventure and fun are synonymous with northern Nevada, as the region offers a myriad of open-air activities: water/snow skiing, snowmobiling, snowsh! oeing, camping, hiking, fishing, golfing, mountain climbing/biking, off-roading, and rafting. There are fifteen ski resorts in the Reno/Tahoe area and two dozen golf courses, including the PGA tour course Montreux. The area plays host to numerous local events, such as: FarmerÂ's Markets, Chili Cook-Off, Rib Cook-Off, Hot-Air Balloon Races, Street Vibrations, the world famous Hot August Nights, the month long Artown festival during July, as well as the Burning Man event in Black Rock Desert. Local casinos, clubs, restaurants, and bars provide for an entertaining nightlife in this 24-hour region. Enjoy nearby theater, symphony, art galleries and museums, offering events for all ages. While the area offers big city attractions, traffic is never a major concern. Reno VA is the teaching affiliate of the University Of Nevada School Of Medicine, the stateÂ's only medical school. The Davidson Academy, the state designated Â"university school for profoundly gifted pupilsÂ", is locat! ed on the UNR campus. Additionally TMCC offers accessible post high sch! ool classes and degrees and offers the opportunity to continue higher education through UNR. Reno offers big-city shopping to boot! The Summit Sierra is the cityÂ's premier shopping destination; the outdoor mall offers stores such as Apple, Buckle, Coach, DillardÂ's, GAP, Guess, Hollister and Pottery Barn. The downtown area offers local shops, eateries, wine walks, pub crawls all in close proximity to the Truckee River, the site for the annual River Festival. Attend a Reno Aces AAA baseball game, watch a Bighorn basketball game at the downtown events center, or root for our Wolf Pack athletes at a UNR football game.
