St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena Campus, 3 East Medical Surgical Oncology unit pro! vides services to a patient population that include adult and geriatric patients. Predominant service lines include care of the oncology patient, post operative spine surgeries, and variety of medical diagnoses. There is a strong focus on quality and evidence-based nursing practice.
Job Summary:
Nurse Intern Registered Nurses will provide patient care with the guidance of a preceptor while completing training in the identified specialty area. Preceptorship and training are considered complete when the Nurse Intern can function independently and take a full patient assignment in their specialty area. Upon successful completion of specialty training, the Nurse Intern Registered Nurse will practice under the job description for the specialty area in which they were trained. The registered nurse employs critical thinking to integrate objective data with knowledge gained from an assessment of the subjective experiences of patients. Registered nurses use this ! critical thinking process to apply the best available evidence! and research data to the processes of diagnosis and treatment. Nurses continually evaluate quality and effectiveness of nursing practice and seek to optimize outcomes. Medical/clinical knowledge, technical and clinical skills, clinical judgment, interpersonal skills and communication as indicated in the current Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals are essential components of nursing practice. All registered nurses practice within the scopes and standards of practice set forth by the American Nurses Association. Additional Professional Organizations may be referenced when appropriate to guide practice and standards within the work place.
This position is represented by CNA and is covered by the terms and conditions of the applicable collective bargaining agreement.

Experience
Minimum - Minimum of 6 months experience as an RN in a cancer center or one month acute care.
Preferred - Exper! ience in an acute care setting in any capacity.
Education
Minimum - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Preferred - Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
Licensure
Required: RN = Current license as a Registered Nurse in the State of Nevada.
CT CPRBLS = Basic Life Support CPR.
