Location: Las Vegas Nevada
Description: Sterling Medical Corporation is currently interviewing Medical Coder right now, this position will be placed in Nevada. To be considered for this position you must meet the followingqualifications:
Knowledge/Skills: Excellent computer/communication skills for provider and staffinteractions, Knowledge of anatomy/physiology and disease process, medicalterminology, coding guidelines (outpatient), documentation requirements,familiarity with medications ! and reimbursement guidelines; and encoderexperience, and the a! bility to handle multiple projects and appropriatelyprioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
Education/Certification: The following arerecognized certifications:
1. Registered Health InformationTechnologist (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA),Certified Professional Coder (CPC) CCS-P (Certified Coder Specialist â€" Physician(CCS-P) with the appropriate level of experience.
2. An accrediting institution recognized bythe American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) and/or AmericanAcademy of Professional Coders (AAPC) must accredit education.
3. CONTINUED EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: Contract medical coders will obtain the required continuededucation hours at no expense to the government in order to maintain current andproper national certification(s) required for the position.
4. BLS- (Sterling Medical will assist inobtaining the BLS certification)
Experience: A minimumof 5 years experience in the outpatie! nt setting (physicians office orambulatory surgery centers). Experience in the business office (insurancebilling, accounts receivable) is not a qualifying factor. Two years ofoutpatient/ambulatory surgery experience may be qualifying if received in amilitary medical facility.
