Yavapai County Community Health Services (YCCHS) is the health department in Yavapai County. The mission of YCCHS states: “Yavapai County Community Health Services will provide leadership, information, and services that contribute to improving the health and well-being of Yavapai County residents.” The AmeriCorps member would work with the Public Health Emergency Preparedness division, which plans for public health threats and emergencies, including natural disasters such as floods, wildfires, disease outbreaks, and terrorism events. They would be responsible for marketing and recruitment for the Medical Reserve Corps, a group of medical and non-medical volunteers that assists YCCHS during times of disaster and community events.

Member Duties : The AmeriCorps member will actively engage with the community by attending local events, health fairs, and meetings to promote and recruit Medical Reserve Corps volunteers. They will develop strategic partnerships with community agencies to expand the pool of potential volunteers and ensure accurate and up-to-date information for Medical Reserve Corps members within the database. In the event of a public health emergency, the member will also work as a phone bank operator, providing vital public health information to members of the public.
