DUTIES:
The VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System invites you to join our dynamic team of growing health care professionals as we move towards opening our brand new state of the art medical facility. The renal department is looking to add an experienced Board Eligible/ Board Certified , staff Nephrologists with current teaching and research experience to assist with our growing veteran population. You are a terrific fit for our facility if you have clinical experience treating adult patients suffering from hypertensive disorders, perturbation of the body fluids, electrolytes and acid-based systems, dialytic procedures (acute and chronic conventional hemodialysis and ultra filtration modalities (CWHDF, SCUF, ect.) and pre and post renal transplant care. A major goal is to provide high quality comprehensive care to patients with end stage renal disease (ESRD) and/or acute renal insufficiency requiring renal placement therapy (dialysis). As we develp our residency and clinical research programs, the physician may have responsibilities in other areas such as education and research. Individuals with current research and teaching experience are preferred. QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Citizenship. Citizen of the United States. (Noncitizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with chapter 3, section A, paragraph 3g, this part.)

Licensure and Registration. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The physician must maintain current registration in the State of licensure if this is a requirement for continuing active, current licensure. The facility Director may waive this licensure requirement if the physician is to serve in a country other than the United States and the physician has licensure in that country.

Education. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:

(1) Schools of medicine holding regular institutional membership in the Association of American Medical Colleges for the year in which the degree was granted.

(2) Schools of osteopathic medicine approved by the American Osteopathic Association for the year in which the degree was granted.

(3) Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.

(4) For residents, graduation from an approved medical school as described above is required except as provided in M-8, part II, chapter 1.
